Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis will give a talk, "The New Wave in Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance," on Friday, March 7, 3-4:30 p.m., in EERC 122.

New Site Up

The new IEEE-MTU Student Branch website is up. The website is running on Drupal 6.1. Right now we're just running a few PHP modules, but that should change soon.

You can register on the website and contribute content with your own blog entries. Use HTML tags to insert images in posts. Files can either be uploaded with the post or hot-linked from another location

Talk On Passive Radars, Mar 18th

Dr. Melissa Meyer will be giving a presentation on the design of her passive radar to the IEEE on March 18, from 7-8 PM, in M&M U113.

Dr. Meyer will talk about her Rock 'n Roll Radar -- otherwise known as a passive, commercial FM-based radar -- and explain how it works, how it was built, and how to interpret its output. She'll show a few examples of real data, then open up the floor for questions.

Passive radars operate without a transmitter, instead using available transmitters such as FM broadcast radio (in this case). For more info you can read the Wikipedia article:
