About IEEE MTU

What is IEEE MTU?
IEEE MTU is a student branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). We run a lab for our members, host speakers, give seminars/classes, and act as a service organization for the ECE department.
What is the 809 SPL?
The 809 Student Projects Lab is the home of IEEE MTU! It is located in EERC 809. The lab is managed and run by the lab manager and the officers of IEEE MTU.
The purpose of the lab is to provide members with the resources they need to complete classwork, labs, and personal projects. It also serves as a meeting place and lounge.
Equipment and Supplies
Currently the lab has the following equipment:
* Oscilloscopes
* Function generators
* Power supplies
* Multimeters
* Soldering bench with prototyping supplies
* Drill press
* Passive components and a selection of ICs and active components
* Computers with internet access and EE software
* Ping pong table and couches :P
Joining IEEE-MTU
To join IEEE MTU you must attend a safety meeting that is held once a semester. During this meeting we review the safety policies and collect dues. The time and date of this meeting is sent out to the ECE dept. undergraduate lists and is posted on the door to 809 SPL and in the IEEE display case (first floor EERC, across from the elevators). If you are unable to attend the meeting and have a valid excuse email one of the officers to arrange for access.
If you miss the meeting do not despair! You are still allowed access to the lab as long as a member is present.
